In Go Green news, the promise of P2I.
P2I stands for the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute, hosted by RIT. An open house was held there Friday.
RIT's working with 16 other schools across the state, to test "green" manufacturing methods and help businesses figure out how to cut down on pollution.
"We must find new and better ways to reduce waste and pollution," said Pete Grannis, the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. "The best way to do that is at the source - the manufacturing process. That's what the Pollution Prevention Institute is all about."
For example - a Niagara Falls company that makes spare parts for military vehicles is the focus of an upcoming workshop. The P2 Institute figured out 33 ways to make the cleaning process better for the environment. That saved the company $65,000.
