Servicemen and women in Rochester were honored at RIT Friday morning. The school hosted its first Veterans Day breakfast for vets and their families. More than 500 people attended.

The veterans had the chance to mingle with fellow servicemen and women during the meal. The breakfast was the idea of Doctor Barry Culhane, an assistant to RIT's president. Culhane was an army medic in Vietnam.

"Serving in the Army made me proud made me a better person and reminded me that there's causes and reasons bigger than myself. It sure taught me alot about team work. Leadership, and I dont regret it. It was the best two years of my life. It gave perspective to me for the future," said Culhane.

He hopes this event will grow and more people will thank veterans for their service in future years.
