The ceremony included music and prayer. Veterans shared stories about their trip and thanked the people who made it possible. "It meant a lot," said Ann Neilan who volunteered on a flight with her father. She says the volunteers get just as much out of the trip as veterans do. "I really learned a lot that I wasn't aware of. I just got to see what it was like with these wonderful men," said Neilan.
The mission to Washington is about more than seeing the sites. It's about giving back to heroes of WWII: The Greatest Generation. "They made me cry when I left this place," said Piacelli. "I will never forget it. I will never forget it. Honor Flight is a national organization. The first flight out of Rochester was in 2008.
