(Rochester, NY)...  Despite facing a 1-0 deficit late in the first period, the Rochester Americans scored three unanswered goals to cruise to a 3-1 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters for their first win of the season tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.  The win also gives new Amerks head coach Ron Rolston his first as an American Hockey League bench boss as his club improves to 1-2-0-0 on the season and extends Lake Erie's losing streak to three straight games.

Three different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Amerks, who also received multiple point efforts from forward Michael Ryan (1+1) and Corey Topp (0+2). David Leggio notched his first win of the season with a 34-save performance en route to first star honors.

Greg Mauldin opened the scoring 16:06 into the first period with his team-leading second goal of the year to put the hometown Monsters up 1-0 heading into the first intermission.

The lead would be short-lived, however, as Ryan leveled the game at one apiece, converting on a pass from Tropp 5:08 into the second stanza for his first of the season.

Rochester would then take the lead just over 10 minutes later as Ryan and Tropp helped set up T.J. Brennan's first goal of the season to put the Amerks on top 2-1 on the power-play. Stationed in front of Monsters goaltender Trevor Cann, Tropp found Brennan at the goal-mouth, who finished off the play with a nifty deke to give the Amerks their first lead of the night.

The Amerks went up 3-1 midway through the final frame as Derek Whitmore was able to get his stick on Nick Crawford's shot from the point and deflect it past Cann for his first of the season at 7:38. Mark Voakes also earned his first point of the season with an assist to help secure Rochester with its first win of the campaign.
