It was on this day in 1926 that Hollywood sex symbol Marilyn Monroe was born. She starred in classics including "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" and "Some Like It Hot". Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortensen. She was married and divorced 3 times and is said to have had affairs with Frank Sinatra and JFK. Monroe took her own life at the age of 36 after overdosing on sleeping pills.
#4 - Trump and Palin
The real estate mogul and former VP candidate grabbed pizza together in New York City. Palin says they discussed the economy over dinner. Trump has said he will not run for president. Palin hasn't ruled out a run yet. A reporter asked, "How about a Trump, Palin ticket?" Palin replied, "That sounds exciting. Sounds unconventional." The reporter asked what Trump thought of it. Trump replied, "Sounds very good." Palin is on an East Coast bus tour with her family. She says she'll decide in a few weeks if she'll jump in the race for President.
#3 - Civil Unions
There were long lines Wednesday morning outside county clerk offices in Illinois. Wednesday is the first day same-sex couples can enter into civil unions in the state. This law comes with legal protections granted to married couples, including rights to hospital visits and adoption.

#1 - Stick Pony Competition
Riding events across the county are having to be cancelled because of an outbreak of deadly horse herpes. So with no real horses to work with, in Utah, the Mounted Posse Junior Queen contestants turned to stick ponies. There are 75 or more cases of horse herpes in 9 states. The horses cannot infect people but can transmit the disease to other horses.
