The four candidates vying for the spot are:
Kathy Hochul: Democrat, Working Families

Ian Murphy: Green Party
Pre-voting polls showed Kathy Hochul as the favored candidate in this race. According to Public Policy Polling, Hochul has support from 42% of voters polled. Jane Corwin trailed with 36%, Jack Davis had 13% and Ian Murphy grabbed 1% of the poll.
Throughout the campaign, the race has been tight. Early polls showed Jane Corwin as the favored candidate. Kathy Hochul entered the race a month late but has caught up and passed Corwin in the polls.
More than 400,000 people are registered to vote in the 26th District. The District spans across seven counties from Buffalo to Greece. The Board of Elections in Monroe County is expecting 6-32% of voters to cast their ballots. Special Elections traditionally have a lower voter turn-out than General Elections.
