Yvonne Trobe –Pittsford Sutherland
There's a young singer at Pittsford Sutherland High School who's going places----and her name is Yvonne Trobe. When you hear her sing, you'll know why so many are so excited about her future.
It's easy to imagine this young singer on stage at the opera. Yvonne Trobe is a dramatic soprano...and it shows.
"I see myself on a stage. I really do, I can't think of any other place where I feel as comfortable or as at home," says Yvonne.
Singing with the choir. This Pittsford Sutherland senior loves singing solo-----but she's equally as passionate about ensembles. Here at the Eastman Community Music School----she and her peers practice every Saturday morning.
"When you're with an ensemble creating sound together, everyone's working together to make one piece of music sound brilliant and I just love that."
Choral music teacher Karie Templeton began working with Yvonne 6 years ago. She coaches Yvonne both at Sutherland, and at Eastman. She says she has a phenomenal gift.
"She always sings from her soul. When you listen to her sing you can feel the music, it's not just a bunch of notes and a pretty face. It's really deep. It's wonderful and expressive. I just love listening to her and working with her and have her bring that depth of love of music to everything she does," says Karie.
"Music is a universal language. No matter what language you're singing in. So if I were singing in Italian to you, you would still feel what I feel or get the story, so it's a way to connect everybody and that would be through music."
Last spring, Yvonne earned a perfect score in her solo performance before The New York State School Music Association. She's one of a select few to be chosen to sing in the conference all state women's choir.
"I get so nervous but the moment I step out onto that stage, it's just me and the piano, and it's a perfect moment."
Yvonne plans on studying vocal performance in college. She's happiest when she's singing----and it will likely lead her to her dream career---on stage.
