"It's a gathering spot for people in the community," said Timothy Flaherty, owner of Flaherty's restaurant.

Flaherty's isn't a new name it has been a restaurant in Penfield for decades--but it is new to Honeoye Falls.

Owners were looking to expand and in February opened their doors in the village.

"We fell in love with Honeoye Falls. It is a beautiful village. We are right on the creek, Honeoye Creek. It's just so great and the people have been fabulous."

In a small village residents are thankful for the new option and also the traffic that comes with it.

"It has also bought people here as a destination.  We also have the rabbit room. That is in its third year. It is more of an event, but center open one night a week for retail. It's another great place for people to come in and do one do another," said Joseph Notar, resident of Honeoye Falls.

The Rabbit Room is just one business inside the Lower Mill of Honeoye Falls.

Owners are touched by how much the community stands behind them:

"It means a lot. It means everything. I am constantly amazed at how generous and supportive this community is," said Alison DeMarco, owner of the Rabbit Room.

Demarco says she proves to people the village motto is true everyday - "it is not as far away as it seems."

"Because our focus is mainly weddings we bring a lot of people from outside of the city which is very interesting. A lot of the people have never been here, or think it is further away that it really is," said DeMarco.

That's just one part of what it's like living here in Honeoye Falls.

Comments

The Village of Honeoye Falls is open for business and is a growing area and a great place to work and live. We are working hard to grow our retail business as well and think this is a very inviting option for those who are looking to grow or start a business.
