This week's News 8 Golden Apple award winner wears many hats at her school: care-giver, teacher and owner. Kara knapp was nominated by all the other teachers at Pitter Patter daycare in Irondequoit.

We snuck in the back-door at the Pitter Patter Day Care in Irondondequoit just to make sure Kara Knapp wouldn't see us.

Even then, she almost surprised us trying to surprise her with a News 8 Golden Apple Award.

Kara Knapp does it all at Pitter Patter Day Care. Teacher, Director and Owner. Her employees love her.

Sherry Rodriquez, nominated Knapp "Because she just goes beyond her duties of being a teacher and director of this daycare? She wears a lot of hats doesn't she? Oh yes, Dr. Nurse, referee. You name it she wears it."

Denise Farabell nominated her "Because she's a great person, she's a great boss to work for and she just cares about everybody."

"I love working with the children we have great families," says Knapp.

Kara's dream has always been to own a daycare. She knows what she does now with kids can impact them for a lifetime.

Knapp says "It's very important. It's the begining of learning. So we do a lot of songs, interacting, reading with the children."

Kara Knapp is a News 8 Golden Apple Award winner.
