Fairport Sectional Wrestling Champ Inspired By Grandpa

John Bird scored late in each of his final two matches on the way to his first win in a varsity meet, the Section Five Championships.
In the process, Bird helped lead Fairport to the school's first wrestling team sectional title in 32 years. Bird says he wouldn't even be wrestling if it were not for his grandparents. Thad Brown has more with another Athlete of the Week.
