Albion, NY--"It's the largest round up that I know of that's ever happened in Orleans County," explained Orleans District Attorney Joseph Cardone.
The Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force led a multitude of police agencies into dozens of homes for Tuesday's early morning bust.
The evidence includes hundreds of prescription pills, heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, weapons, drug paraphernalia, and $30,000 cash.
51 suspects are accused of selling and distributing illegal drugs.
D.A. Cordon believes the deals were going on for months.
"There is some connection between some of the defendants but most of these were independent dealers that we were dealing with."
The bust comes after a year long investigation across Orleans, Monroe, Niagara and Genesee Counties.
Cardone says hundreds of prescription pills, heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana were illegally bought and sold throughout the area.
"Frankly all those types of things that are sold on the street today were involved in this investigation. We're sending a message that if you're out there selling drugs, if you're out there using drugs, you run a great risk of being arrested and certainly we're going to be prosecuting these matters," said Cardone. Suspects range in age from 18-60. The charges vary for each. They include Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Weapons Possession charges.
