There a writer's retreat in the Finger Lakes that has taken going green to new heights. It's a tree house located in Naples.
"The vision became a reality five years ago. This project was done," says Kathy Pottetti of the Gel Center.
It's a tree house that would be any child's dream. But this one is for adults. Writers, actually. It's located in Naples at the Gel Center.
"For five days we all worked in 90 degree heat here at the Gel Center and had a ball."
The idea is to give writers a place to get back to nature and think.
But those who worked on this project also had the surrounding environment in mind.
"This is from all recycled wood it's from New Jersey a big part of it, all the beams. And everything is cut brought up through the trail." "The windows were from various churches and garage sales in the area," Pottetti adds.
They are all things any tree house maker can keep in mind.
"It's peg and groove most of it, there are not that many nails used. There are four trees that are the foundation," says Pottetti.
People from all over the u-s and europe pitched in to lend a hand to the project. It was finished several years ago.
"We have had people come here for camping. We have had newleweds stay here on their honeymoon night. We have had book clubs we have had literary center programs, youth programs here," says Pottetti.
