Wings Dealt Second Shutout In Three Games

Darrell Rasner allowed two hits over eight innings, retiring 13 straight Rochester batters at one point, as the first place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat the Red Wings 3-0 Monday night. Rochester starter Glen Perkins (0-1) allowed six hits and one run in five innings. The Wings are off Tuesday, before opening a three-game home set with Lehigh Valley Wednesday night. Jason Pridies fourth inning single boosted his hitting streak to 10 games, and Jose Morales eighth inning single was the only other Rochester hit. Rasner lowered his ERA to 0.72, and the win lifted his record to 3-0. Jose Veras recorded his fifth save. Ricky Barrett (three strikeouts and one run allowed in two innings) and Heath Totten also pitched for the Red Wings. Notes: Jason Lane hit his sixth home run of the season off Totten....The Red Wings pitching staff entered play Monday having allowed an International League low five home runs this season. Rochester had not allowed a home run in their last 35 innings and only one long ball (Barbaro Canizares solo shot of Bobby Korecky in their last 55 innings. Rochester has not led the IL in fewest home runs allowed in a season since 1976, when they allowed a league-low 77 home runs....RHP Kevin Slowey made a rehab start for the Twins Class A Ft. Myers club Monday night, pitching three innings and allowing a home run and a walk, while striking out five.
