Wegmanslpga2008-04-16-1208375774.jpg(Rochester, NY) -  Wegmans LPGA officials announced today they have reached a long-term agreement with Locust Hill Country Club to be the tournament’s host site for the next 10 years beginning with the 2009 event and ending in 2018.

The current 5-year contract expires after the 2008 tournament.

“We are very pleased to have reached an agreement that will allow the Wegmans LPGA Golf Tournament to continue at Locust Hill Country Club”, stated Larry Dewine, President of Locust Hill. “We are proud to have been host for this event for 32 years and we look forward to the tournament being at Locust Hill for many years to come.”

Colleen Wegman, president of Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. added, “We are so grateful to the Locust Hill membership for their support of the Wegmans LPGA and look forward to working with them well into the next decade. Through our partnership, this tournament will continue to be one of the premier events on the LPGA tour and one that benefits and enriches the entire Rochester community.”

The 2008 Wegmans LPGA is scheduled for June 16 – 22, 2008. The 2009 Wegmans LPGA is scheduled for June 22 – 28, 2009. The Disabled Children of Monroe County (DCMC) will be the recipient of charitable proceeds from the 2008 tournament.

Earlier this year, Tournament Co-Chair Jerry Stahl announced that, beginning with the 2009 tournament, United Way’s Children’s Success Fund will become the charitable beneficiary of tournament proceeds. To support DCMC through the transition, Wegmans announced that it would give DCMC a gift of $1 million.

Tournament Chairman, Jerry Stahl stated, “It is gratifying to see all of the pieces come together that will ensure the future of the Wegmans LPGA in Rochester for many years to come.”
