Updated: February 8, 2010
The Syracuse Orange are one spot away from a #1 ranking. In Monday's AP poll, the Syracuse men's basketball team was ranked at #2.

They moved up after a pair of 17-point wins this past week: At home versus Providence and on the road versus Cincinnati.  In both games, the team looked dominate in the second half after slow starts, and cruised on to victory.

The 23-1 Orange are off to the best start in school history and are in the drivers seat for a #1 seat in the NCAA Tournament.

A loss by Villanova ensured the Orange would move up in the polls. Syracuse also moved up In the ESPN/USA Today poll, although the Orange were edged out by Kentucky for the #2 spot.

The Orange are looking up at #1 Kansas, who travels to face a Top 25 opponent in Texas on Monday night.

Syracuse faces UConn on Wednesday night and Louisville on Sunday.  Both games are at the Carrier Dome.
