The sun shining in Rochester feels good now, but come summer it will at times be scorching. Which means air conditioning bills will pile up. That’s why a lot of businesses have invested in tinting their windows. “Most of us saw a difference right away when the sun came out you were happy to see it, but you didn’t feel it coming in, “said Howie Jacobson, a managing partner at Dixon Schwabl in Victor. Jacobson said the reason the company invested in tinting is because depending on which part of the building you’re in, you could be sweltering while another person is freezing. “You can have very hot temperatures up on the third floor compared to the basement or terrace level so this should even out and really make it much more enjoyable for our employees,” Jacobson said. Dave Burns of Ray Sands Glass says the sun can cause a lot of damage, including discoloring your walls; fading your carpet and destroying hard wood floors and cabinets. By having tinted windows, you may frequent the furniture store less. Tinting is not cheap however, it can cost up to $1,300.00 depending on how many windows you want to tint. But in five years time you usually recoup the money by how much you save on heating and air conditioning bills.
