A Seneca County man is in jail today, charged with attempted murder of a police officer in Wayne County.
Sheriffs deputy say 39-year-old Dale Rigby, of Port Byron, refused to pull over for speeding on Route 104 in Wayne County yesterday afternoon.
At one point, they say Rigby drove his van directly towards the pursuing deputy.
The deputy did fire his gun at Rigby while avoiding being hit.
Rigby was not hit by the gun shot but did run his van off the road - he was then taken into custody.
On top of the attempted murder of a police officer charge - Rigby could be facing other charges.
Two passengers in Rigbys van were not injured and are not facing any charges.
