Details Emerging On Woman Involved In Spitzer Scandal

(New York, NY) -- The woman at the heart of the prostitution scandal that brought down New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has been identified as 22-year-old Ashley Alexandra Dupre. The "New York Times" reports the New Jersey native left her home at the age of 17 to become a singer in New York City.
She has reportedly been identified as "Kristen" in a federal affidavit that alleged she worked as a thousand-dollar-an-hour prostitute.
Dupre has declined to comment on when she met Governor Spitzer or how many times they shared each other's company. She also told the "Times" she has not had much sleep over the past week due to the controversy.
Dupre said she does not want to be, quote, "thought of as a monster" for her role in the governor's downfall.
Dupre has not been charged and is likely to be a witness against the four people charged with operating the Emperor's Club V.I.P. prostitution ring. Her MySpace page includes a song and details of her life struggling to become a singer in the Big Apple, touching on using drugs, being homeless and being broke.
