(New York, NY) -- The scandal surrounding New York Governor Eliot Spitzer could hurt the campaign for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Spitzer announced his resignation, effective Monday, after his alleged involvement with a prostitution ring.
According to "The Washington Post," Spitzer not only diverted attention away from Clinton, but his scandal has rehatched a similar incident between Clinton and her husband, former president Bill Clinton.
While Clinton's strategists are focusing on campaign tactics in her race for the Democratic nominee, they do not want voters to be thinking of an unfaithful husband.
When Clinton was asked about the Spitzer case, her only comment was, quote, "I obviously send my best wishes to the governor and his family."
