Rob Clark is the Utica businessman who is vying for the Rochester Rhinos. On Friday night, Clark told News 8 no deal has been reached with the United Soccer League or the City of Rochester yet. He says he's hopeful he'll get the deal, but nothing has been finalized.
Clark says he provided both the United Soccer League and City officials with five year projections of how he would run the team and stadium. He says even though he has a lot to learn about the game of soccer, he watches the Premier Soccer League on television. Clark says he's given out a lot of loans to sports teams over the years so he knows a lot about the marketing aspects in regards to what works and what doesn't.
Rob Clark plans to drive into Rochester again on Monday. He expects to meet with city officials to iron out a stadium lease deal. Clark also said he's going to look for a place to live in Rochester.
News 8 spoke to Soccer Sam Friday night, he's the local businessman and the radio voice of the Rhinos. He says he realizes his group of investors are probably just a back up plan if the Clark deal falls through. But he still would buy the team, if possible. Soccer Sam says his main priority was that someone save Rochester Soccer.
