State wrestling championships preview

P-STATEWRESTLINGCHAMPS2008-03-07-1204931371.jpgGetting to Rochester has been their goal all season…now nearly 500 athletes are ready to take to the mats this weekend.


The New York State High School Wrestling Championships are Saturday and Sunday the Blue Cross Arena. Tickets are 12 dollars for general admission.


There are three sessions.  One Saturday, all day long beginning at about in the morning, and then two on Sunday with the championship round being the latter session.


There are 480 wrestlers statewide who will be competing, 54 of them are from Section Five, including many from Spencerport, which is the number one team in the state.


It's a unique event, only the second time that Rochester has had the privilege of hosting this.  The only other time was 1969 at RIT.
