P-FOOTBALL__MISSING2008-02-14-1203028727.jpgState Police are investigating a Gananda Youth Football and Cheerleading Club President accused of swindling money from the league.  The Wayne County District attorney says he expects charges will be filed.  Football season is months away.  But football seems to be what everyone in Gananda is talking about.

"It's just upsetting somebody would do that in a small town like Gananda," said Nick Costa.

"I can't even imagine stealing from children.  I mean how do you feel?  How do you live with yourself after that," said Jim Schukraft.

Newly elected board president Marty LaFica says the board found out $47,000 was missing when Former President John Gunio resigned.  Lafica says Gunio admits to taking the money.  What for, he's not sure.  We called Gunio at home to get his side of the story, a woman on the other end hung up on us.  Board directors say Gunio paid back most of the money a few days ago.  He still owes more than $1,200.

Board members say the upcoming football season will be better than ever.  They say even if Gunio didn't pay back the money, they would have made sure the kids in the program were unaffected.  The board is also taking steps to make sure nothing like this happens again.  They've put an audit and controls subcommittee in place to help with accounting.
