The decision to close 13 Catholic schools in Monroe County will stand. That decision today by Bishop Matthew Clark.
In January, Bishop Clark announced the closures due to declining enrollment and financial concerns.
"While I greatly appreciate these proposals, I remain confident that the Task Force recommendations to close these schools and focus our resources on 11 remaining schools is the best chance we have of stabilizing our financial pressures in the long term and preserving Catholic Education for the future," Bishop Matthew Clark said in a statement to News 8 Now.
The Bishop contends re-opening any of these schools would hurt the 11 remaining schools that remain open.
Several schools have raised money and met with Diocese officials in an attempt to change the Bishop's mind.
Registration for the next school year begins Wednesday. The Diocese says there will be room for every child who wants a Catholic education.
