The doors closed for good Saturday at the Wegmans on Brooks-Chili Avenue in Gates. Wegmans decided to close the store due to flat sales and the rising costs of doing business there. The store was facing steep competition from the super Wal-Mart across the street. Workers were offered jobs at different Wegmans and the company is keeping the building for operational use.
