Special Olympics Winter Games underway in Rochester

Several events were held Saturday at three venues across our area, including "Olympic Village" and floor hockey at the dome center in Henrietta. News 8 Now caught up with the coach of the Fingerlakes Sabres, who says though his team ended up in fourth place they have already won.
"My players have come a long way in a long time....with a lot of hard work they accomplished getting into division one they deserve every bit of what they've got," says coach Steven Marshall.
About 1000 athletes in all are competing in the events, which also include skiing, snowshoeing and figure skating. Five hundred local volunteers are helping to make the event a success.
