As if there wasn't enough politics to digest Tuesday, here's more. It sounds likely there will be two challengers to Joe Robach's Senate seat. First of all, the woman who has led the town of Brighton since 1991 tells us she wants to go to Albany.

During an interview Tuesday afternoon, Brighton Supervisor Sandy Frankel touted her years of experience and says she's ready to tackle at least four issues that Albany has fallen short on. The economy, the environment, education and healthcare. Her announcement appears to set up a Democratic primary battle against someone else who is well-known to voters in Brighton.

Rick Dollinger, a former state Senator himself and since ten am this morning, a former town justice, says he's still exploring the possibility of running, but did make it sound as if he's already made up his mind.dollinger2008-02-05-1202261001.jpg

Why does he want back in? He says the tone in Albany has improved since he left the Senate in 2002 and hopes he can be a part of the balance of power in the Senate turning Democratic.

As for Senator Robach? We got a statement from him moments ago and it basically says that he's not worrying about politics right now, only about taking care of the people's business in Albany. Robach says he will announce his plans when it becomes appropriate.

Both Democratic candidates say they're hoping that Senator Robach's party affiliation will make him vulnerable to defeat. Both Frankel and Dollinger say Robach's success is an aberration, that the district leans Democratic.
