Dozens of drivers were stopped dead in their tracks after the thruway was shut down due to white out conditions caused by high winds and blowing snow. News Eight talked with several drivers stuck in traffic at the Leroy exit who were looking for an alternate route to get to Buffalo. Trucker Tim Tobin was one of them. “I'm going to try to sneak through there and flip around and take 33 back into buffalo,” Tobin said. The wintry weather made for dicey driving around the area. The 55 mile stretch between Henrietta and Depew was closed as a precaution. Some drivers like Jamie Kleiman tried to decide whether to wait it out. “I don’t think there is an alternate. I think its this way or no way. I may have to wait it out, I don't know how long of a it wait might be,” Kleiman said. Vince Tobacco was scheduled for a business meeting in Buffalo, he got some good news from his boss. “Well, I got my boss on the line and I'm going to see what he wants to do. (Tobacco answers his cell phone). We're going to turn around and come back,” Tobacco laughed.
