NYGIANTS2008-01-28-1201577052.jpgIt's an unlikely stop for New York Giants fans: American Sports Media, a publishing company sitting in the back corner of Winton Place Plaza in Henrietta.

“We do have a lot of Giants fans that have heard about us and started coming through our door," said Dave Jones President of American Sports Media.

The local company sends out 35,000 subscriptions of "Giant Insider" each week around the country, but it also sells team merchandise through the paper. Since the Giants won a trip to the Superbowl, there's been a serious spike in sales.

"
We'll probably have sold as much merchandise last week than we have all year for the Giants," Jones said.

That includes shirts, sweatshirts, flags, bibs, and the newest arrival -- Championship glasses.

T-shirts are piled high to the ceiling now, but by the end of the week, the stock room will most likely be empty. On average, Giants fans are spending 75-dollars per order.

"As soon as they win, they want what the players are wearing on television,” Jones said.

Most of the orders aren't coming from Rochester football fans, who generally support the Buffalo Bills.  The bulk is coming from New Jersey, Florida, California and Virginia.

And so far the local company has shipped out 1,400 shirts, 1,800 hats and close to 200 flags.

If the Giants win the Superbowl, they could be selling three or four times that amount.

“It's like a bonus,” Jones said. “Who knew the Giants were going to be in this position? Nobody, really."
