Redskins Fire Williams

By: Thad Brown
Updated: January 26, 2008
Three weeks ago, ex-Bills head coach Gregg Williams was the odds-on favorite to replace Joe Gibbs in charge of the Redskins. Today, Williams is out of a job. Williams, who had been the defensive cooridinator, was fired by the Redskins Saturday along with offensive coordinator Al Saunders. Greg Blache was promoted to defensive coordinator, and Washington announced Jim Zorn was hired away from Seattle to be the offensive coordinator. The Redskins say they may be a week or so away from finding a new head coach. As for Williams and Saunders, the Rams have already expressed interest.
