Day 1 of Roderick Scott Deliberations Nearing End

By: Jecoliah Ellis
Updated: December 17, 2009
The jury in the Roderick Scott trial deliberated for the entire day on Thursday.  The jury went into deliberations around 11:30 a.m.

In closing arguments, prosecutors said Scott had no right to shoot 17-year-old Chris Cervini.   Julie Finocchio said Cervini was shot first before he ran.

"He did run with a bullet in his back," Finocchio, the prosecutor, told jurors. "He was already dying and ran scared."

Some feel Scott was a hero protecting his neighborhood, but jurors have to put their opinions aside.

"It has to come down to the law and it has to come down to the facts. You can't take those feelings our sentiment with you in to the jury room," said Finocchio.

Defense attorney John Parrinello says his client is nervous.

"You're always anxious when you have a jury deliberating. You never know what they're doing or why they're doing it," said Parrinello.

Scott is charged with manslaughter.
