Spotlight shines on local empanada shop

EMPANADAA2008-01-14-1200325357.jpgIt was a big day Saturday for Juan and Maria Contreras as their famous empanada's received international attention.

Friends, family and customers of the "Empanada Stop Inc." at Rochester’s Public Market gathered Saturday night to watch an interview seen by 150 million viewers around the world. Don Francisco of “Sabado Gigante” interviewed the couple and highlighted their famous desserts.



“Sabada Gigante is a show that is viewed on every continent and its a very well known program even in the united states so tonight were going to be featured in one of the segments," says Contreras.



One of the highlight's of the celebration was plenty of free empanada's including a brand new one, cleverly named the "Don Francisco” empanada.
