Teenager drowns at Brighton apartment complex

policelights2008-01-12-1200201205.jpgBrighton police confirm a 17-year-old young man drowned at an apartment complex pool in Brighton Saturday night. The incident happened at 8:15 p.m. at the Renaissance apartment complex on East Avenue.

“We are not sure whether the young man had a pre-existing medical condition which may have caused him to fall in the pool or if he was in the pool already and drowned,” says Lt. Bob Cline of the Brighton Police Department.

Police say they are considering this to be an accidental drowning. The young man was transported to Strong Hospital where he later died.  The incident occurred during a family gathering at the complex. The young man’s name is not being released at this time and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
