The Rochester Americans were swept in the two-game series by the Manitoba Moose, despite a third-period comeback attempt by the Amerks tonight. The loss at the MTS Centre was the fifth straight loss for the Amerks.
Stefan Meyer notched two goals in the third period, but Rochester failed to force overtime. Rochester nearly tied the game with less than one minute to play, but Mark Mancaris point shot just missed the near side. Rochester has now lost 15 of its last 16 games.
Manitoba was led by first-period goals by Luc Bourdon, Mike Keane and Alexandre Bolduc. Pierre-Cedric Labrie notched two assists and Bolduc recorded one goal and one assist. Cory Schneider made 30 saves to improve to 7-7-0. Adam Dennis was handed the loss for Rochester, allowing three goals in the first period. Tyler Plante stopped all 10 shots in faced in two periods of work.
The Amerks were without defenseman Mike Card and Clarke MacArthur. Card was injured last night in the third period and MacArthur was recalled by the Buffalo Sabres today.
Rochester returns home on Friday, January 11th to host the Manchester Monarchs at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
