For the second time in less than a month, newly elected Mayor Jason Koon faced hundreds of East Rochester residents. At the Wednesday night meeting, Koon was able to field questions from the community and outline some of his plans for the future.
This time he was greeted with a mixed reaction from the audience that included some of his supporters, his opposition and even those undecided on how they feel about the new mayor. Public speaking rules were handed out before hand to shlpe avoid some of the yelling Koon and the board faced at the emergency meeting held back in December. However, shouts were heard from the audience, and there was a few heated moments between Koon and Trustee Michael Flanigan after Koon outlined some plans for the village.
Those plans included lowering property taxes, reducing spending and creating a marketing campaign to attract more people into the village.
