Rochester Police are investigating a deadly shooting on the City's west side that happened Sunday afternoon. The shooting occurred near the intersection of Jay and Walnut Street.
Officers say one man was shot inside his home. After being shot, the man was picked up at his house by a friend to be transported for medical treatment.
Police stopped the car and transported the injured man to the hospital where he later died. Investigators tell News 8 Now that the victim’s house was a known drug trafficking location.
"We just served a warrant here probably a month actually just under a month we've made several arrests this is just an indication of one of the problems that the police department deals with," says Deputy Chief George Markert.
The shooting occurred just across the street from a makeshift memorial marking an earlier homicide in that neighborhood. Sunday's incident marks the City's 50th homicide as 2007 comes to a close.
