In the last 48 hours, the number of people who've "voiced their choice" has increased substantially. RG & E tells News 8 Now the number of participating customers is significantly over 40% possibly close to 50% but the exact numbers have not been added up. The entire point behind the program is allowing customers to actually choose their electricity supplier and program.
There are literally dozens of options out there with various pricing ranges. To choose is easy and the process only takes a few minutes. However, RG & E says if you do not choose, you'll automatically be placed on the variable option of your current supplier which in some cases could cause your electricity bill to increase substantially.
“Some people are researchers while some people are procrastinators and what not. I think that it just boils down to the fact that at this time of year things are so hectic and people are just trying to get through the holidays and now as since this past Wednesday, things have really picked up in terms of enrollment,” says Dick Marion, RG & E spokesperson.
You have until 7 pm to voice your choice. You must choose both your energy supplier and decide whether you want a fixed or variable pricing option. You can call 1-800-743-8926 to voice your choice or register online: www.rge.com
