Emily Gage is an accomplished guitarist, and her passion for her music shows up in her artwork. In one case - literally. Check out the self-portrait of her and her guitar.
This Red Jacket High School senior is a dedicated artist. The studio is her second home.
"So far, it's been charcoal or pencil drawings," said Emily. "I just like how I can interpret color into a gray scale."
Emily was awarded a scholarship last summer to attend an college prep art course at RIT. A lot of people believe in her.
"She learns very quickly and very easily. She's eager to learn new things," said Karen Tretiak, Emily's art teacher. "She works very very hard and she also has an inner creativity about her that allows her to create incredible works of art."
"The class really helped me grow as an artist," said Emily. "If i didn't do it i wouldn't be at the same level as i am right now."
Emily's favorite work so far reflects her loves for pencil charcoal and drawing.
"I did one of my room where there's a window and there's a nicrophone stand there, and i really got the contrast with it," said Emily. "I like to get the perspective of the room that I'm in."
Emily is applying to art school, and plans on turning her passion for art into a career in illustration and design.
