Lawmakers pass Monroe County budget

The Monroe County budget affects every taxpayer in our county. Late last night lawmakers passed Monroe County's 2008 spending plan. Here is what taxpayers can expect.... There will be a small cut to property taxes, that is due to the fact this years budget is balanced. In order to balance the books, the county used $28 million in funding from sales tax revenue to cover medicaid costs instead of funding suburban schools. Critics say this will cause schools to raise taxes.
