Town of Webster to receive $1.5 million for sports complex

Residents in the Town of Webster will soon have a few new places to play, thanks to recently secured state dollars.


State Senator Michael Nozzolio announced the construction of a new, $1.5 million youth athletic facility to be built off of

Basket Road
in the Town of Webster.  The new multi-sport venue will be used for baseball, football, soccer and lacrosse, and will be available for use by the residents of Webster and Wayne County.


Town supervisor Ron Nesbitt says it's a long time coming for the growing community.


"We're up to about 42,000 people, and little league and baseball, we have no football fields except for the two high school fields in this town, and it was needed,” says Nesbitt.


Senator Nozzolio has also announced a $25,000 state grant for the Webster Athletic Association to build two new little league baseball fields at Empire Park. The deal still requires approval from the NYS Legislature.
