The Rochester Americans fell to the Toronto Marlies 5-2 tonight at The Blue Cross Arena.
Torontos Simon Gamache scored the Marlies first goal on the power play with the assists from Kris Newbury and Derrick Walser in the first period.
Amerks tied the score 1-1 in the second when Anthony Stewart deflected his eighth goal of the season with the assists from Peter Aston and Mike Weber. Staffan Krownwall scored for the Marlies’ in the second making the score 2-1. Kris Newbury (1+1) scored the third goal for the Marlies with the assists from David Ling and Jiri Tlusty at 10:34. The Amerks had a goal disallowed due to goalie interference and the Marlies scored shortly after on a goal by Jiri Tlusty (1+1) from Kris Newbury (1+2) and David Ling (0+2) at 16:50.
The Amerks cut the Marlies lead in half when Marek Zagrapan scored after taking a pass from Stefan Meyer and Mark Mancari.
Toronto added to their lead midway through the third period on the power play when Kris Newbury scored his second goal of the game ending with four points on the night (2+2). The assists on the goal went to David Ling (0+2) and Anton Stralman (0+1).
The Amerks will complete their weekend at home on Sunday, December 9th as they welcome the second visit from the Binghamton Senators to The Blue Cross Arena. Faceoff is at 6:05pm.
