A new website makes it easy to examine the inner workings of New York government, and Albany wants you to test it out.

It's called "Project Sunlight," unveiled Wednesday in Albany.  The website makes it easy for citizens to look at existing databases of campaign donors, lobbyists, and state contracts.  The information existed online before, but it was difficult or confusing to try and access it.

Putting this information out in the open is only half of the goal.

"Part of this is just using the technology, using the internet, using the web to empower citizens, educate citizens, educate young people about their government, an online civics course," said state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
