Local kids celebrate first snow day

“They wear their pajamas inside out and backwards and they mess up their hair, and that is their superstition,” she said.
About eight inches of snowfall in the overnight helped a bit too. So before the snow day fun began, Jacob and his older brother were put to work, shoveling driveways with their mother.
“The snow is not too heavy, it's nice,” Leberman said, “but there's a lot of it. More than what we're used to."

Last year was pretty mild,” said Alicia Moodie. “We didn't really get a lot of snow, but this is quite a surprise to me. Last night it just kept falling."
“Usually they get bombed in the city, and we get lucky with that we're too far away from the area and too far away from the lake,” said Michael Miron, “but we got it this time.”
And this time, it made for good snow for playing, sledding and, of course, digging.
“It doesn't look like it's going to stop,” Leberman said. “It keeps coming."
The snow was expected to taper off by Tuesday night, but you can bet there will be plenty of kids running around with their pajamas inside out and backwards, hoping for another day off from school Wednesday.
