Amerks Smothered By Bruins' Second Period

The Providence Bruins scored five goals in the second period tonight to defeat the Rochester Americans 5-1 at Dunkin Donuts Center. Forward Stefan Meyer scored Rochesters lone goal on the power play at 6:27 of the third. Amerks forward Clarke MacArthur was a minus-two in his first game back from recall with the Buffalo Sabres. Providences scoring came from Nate Thompson, Pascal Pelletier, Nate DiCasmirro and Matt Hendricks. Rochester native Chris Collins scored the third goal of the Bruins five-goal second period. Adam Dennis stopped 24 in 40:00 before being relieved by David Shantz for the third period. Shantz stopped six. Rookie Adam Franck made 21 saves in his first professional start. Rochester falls to 10-11-1-2 and remains in third in the North Division. The Amerks return home on Friday, December 7th as they play host to the Toronto Marlies for a 7:35 p.m. North Division showdown. The game will be the first visit for the Marlies to the Flower City and the second of eight scheduled games between the two teams this season.
