A community is remembering the life of a Chili teen killed in a drive-by shooting last spring. Shamar Patterson, a junior at Gates-Chili High School, would have celebrated his 17th birthday Saturday. Instead, family and friends gathered to celebrate the gift he gave to others...organ donation.

A balloon release was held at Noon Saturday in Shamar's honor at the Grove Place Cemetery where he was buried. He passed away on April 11th. Shamar helped save the lives of five other people by donating his organs.

If you would like more information about organ donation, you can call the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network: 1-800-810-5494.
