Change hits Rochester radio stations

Big changes are hitting the airwaves in Rochester. Entercom Radio has moved forward in aquiring four other Rochester radio stations, and that means a veteran radio personality is headed off-the-air. Pennsylvania-based Entercom Communications has purchased four stations in the market, including WCMF and WPXY. As part of the deal, Entercom is laying off WCMF's Dave Kane, a fixture on the Rochester airwaves for nearly three decades.
"I've had a really good run... 27 years in a business that is known for not staying put and I am very fortunate to have found something early in my career that worked for me professionally and gave way to a great personal life."
Also being let go by Entercom: WPXY's Pete Kennedy, WCMF's Dino Kaye and Mark Cronin, and WCMF producer J.P. Lacey.
In a statement. Entercom didn't comment on the layoffs, but did say the new management of the stations will take effect today. In the interest of fairness, we want to let you know that News 8 Now and Fox Rochester provides news updates and weather forecasts to several Entercom Radio stations.
