NY State Police application deadline

This Saturday is the deadline to sign up online to take the written portion of the state trooper's exam. Officers say so far 24,000 people throughout the state have signed up. But they are looking for more applicants to come forward because the department is always interested in hiring new officers.


"We average between 5 to 10 people who retire every couple of weeks, so we have to fill that, and then you have other people who leave the job for various reasons,” says Trooper Mark O’Donnell.


New York State Police is the largest full service state police agency in the country.
