A nationwide survey puts Rochester in the top 10% of most dangerous cities in the U.S. According to the Congressional Quarterly Press, Rochester ranks 30th out of 378 cities nationwide. The city of Detroit topped the list. CQ Press says it based the rankings on FBI crime numbers, but Rochester Mayor Bob Duffy calls the numbers "laughable." Duffy says CQ Press misused FBI crime data. He says releasing the survey hurts the city's civic pride, economic development, and convention and tourism business. The CQ Press conducts the crime survey every year. Last year, Rochester ranked 37th on the most dangerous cities list.
