SUSANJOHNHOLIDAYHELPA2007-11-19-1195515122.jpgWith the cold weather coming in...one state lawmaker is making sure everyone has a safe and warm winter. Monday state Assemblywoman Susan John kicked off her Safe And Warm Winter Program. John is collecting women's and kids' coats and books for kids as well. The coats will help support programs at Alternatives for Battered Women and the books will head to Rochester Childfirst Network.

"Many families will be going out to start their Christmas shopping and so I hope when you go out to do your Christmas shopping you will think about the children and the women at alternatives for battered women who face a cold, long winter and many difficult challenges," Assemblymember Susan John.

Here's how you can help, you can drop off any new or gently used coat or book at her district office at

840 University Avenue
in Rochester. Donations can be made weekdays between 9 and 5 from now until December 15th.
