Rochester police are investigating three weekend homicides. The first one happened early Saturday morning outside a House at 344 Flower City Park. Police say 48-year old Hector Merced was found beat to death on the porch. Late that night at about 9:30 police say 16-year old Christopher Jones was shot to death at the corner of Lexington and Pierpoint. Early Sunday morning 23-year old Jeffrey Mullen was shot near university and main while a passenger in a car. He died at Strong Hospital. Police say none of the incidents are connected, however, all believe stemmed from verbal altercations. The two shootings mark the first gun involved homicides since the city launched its “zero tolerance” initiative nearly seven weeks ago. So far no arrests have been made in any of the incidents.
