Senior PGA and Wegmans LPGA team up

LPGASENIORPGA2007-11-16-1195228658.jpgRochester, NY—November 15, 2007 –69th Senior PGA Championship General Chair, Tony Malone, and the Wegmans LPGA Tournament Co-Chairman, Jerry Stahl, announced today that the two major golfing events have joined together to offer Rochester golf enthusiasts a joint ticket package that provides access to both events in 2008.

“This is the first time the Senior PGA Championship and the LPGA have worked together to offer a combined ticket package to its host community,” said Malone.  “Today marks a historic day for golf in Rochester.  The “Be There For Both” promotion is being launched today”.  

Two “Be There for Both” ticket package options are being offered beginning today through December 31, 2007:

Daily Ticket Package:  $49.00

Includes one any day ticket to the grounds for any one day of the Senior PGA Championship, May 19 – 25, 2008 at Oak Hill Country Club and one any day ticket to the grounds for any one day of the Wegmans LPGA, June 16 - 22, 2008 at Locust Hill Country Club.

Weekly Pass Package:  $125.00

Includes one week-long grounds only pass for the Senior PGA Championship and one week long grounds only pass for the Wegmans LPGA. 

Tickets are available at both tournament offices, both tournament web sites (rochesterlpga.com and seniorpga2008.com) and all Wegmans Food Market stores.  Tickets will also be available at Eastview, Marketplace and The Mall at Greece Ridge starting November 30th.   Ticket packages are only available until December 31st.

On hand for “Be There For Both” ticket announcement was Craig Harmon, head golf professional at Oak Hill Country Club.  Craig confirmed that Oak Hill is the only golf course in the world to host the Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, Senior PGA, U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Open and the U.S. Amateur.  In addition, Craig foresees local favorites Jeff Sluman and Joey Sindelar playing in the 69th Senior PGA Championship in May.

Jerry Stahl announced that 2008 purse will increase to $2 million, up $200,000 from last year.  The number one LPGA player in the world and 2007 Wegmans LPGA champion, Lorena Ochoa will be back to defend her crown in June.
